Since it was August, we enjoyed our meals by the pool (which was great both during the day and at night). Picking fresh cherries, peaches, and berries from the orchard added to our pleasure.

Villa il Sogno not only met but exceeded our expectations. The panoramic views of the verdant valley and the rolling hills dotted with olive and cypress tree groves provided the background for an idyllic Tuscan retreat. It was hard to believe that we were also so very close to Firenze! The house was very welcoming and comfortable. Meals were a delight and the kitchen was well-supplied and equipped for easy cooking and gracious serving. We particularly enjoyed the infinity pool with a superb vista, even more spectacular from inside the lovely pool. Swimming laps was never so much fun! Rossella, the house manager, is also a talented chef and provided memorable meals that were so good that we decided to forgo some evenings out, to stay at the villa, and enjoy her cooking. A week of this treat was just a tease.

Your home, Villa il Sogno is a truly lovely experience and we enjoyed all of its amenities, your many art books and books on the area, the pool, the gazebo (where we had our wedding ceremony) and all of the serenity that it provided Your home, Villa il Sogno is a truly lovely experience and we enjoyed all of its amenities, your many art books and books on the area, the pool, the gazebo (where we had our wedding ceremony) and all of the serenity that it provided .

Your great room is a special place with the windows and light, we relaxed there together every evening. The pool is lovely and we enjoyed sitting and listening to peacocks, roosters, and birds in the morning. We won’t miss the drive up to the villa at night 🙂 — but by the end of the week, we were pros!

We appreciated the recommendations of things to do and we enjoyed a day touring the Roman/Etruscan amphitheater, wall, and the museum, as well as the lovely outdoor market in Fiesole. We also went to Malemmina Antico for dinner one night and the food was just wonderful.

We will share our experience with our Tuscany bound friends in the future.

    Wishing you all our best!

We stayed at Villa Il Sogno for one week and found it to be a beautifully maintained, comfortable home. The villa is handsomely decorated, as evidenced by the furnishings, lighting, artwork, and rich materials used throughout the house. The villa is filled with Tuscan light from morning till evening: the huge living room has windows on three sides and a fireplace, and the master bedroom has French doors that open onto the lovely courtyard, with breathtaking views of the valley below. The property has a stunning view of the surrounding valley and is lush with flowering, fragrant vines, lavender, fruit trees, and berry bushes. We were encouraged to pick the fruits for our enjoyment. The magnificent vanishing-edge pool was a great way to relax after a day of sightseeing.

While the house is private, rural, and secluded, it is only a 20-minute drive to Florence and an excellent home base for exploring Tuscan hill towns. The surrounding countryside offers many fabulous restaurants as well as local points of interest, including wine tasting at a nearby 11th-century castle.

The lovely housekeeper Rosella, welcomed us warmly and made us feel very much at home. She is a wonderful resource for exploring the area.

Villa Il Sogno is indeed a “Villa of Dreams!”

Something about being in the ancient hills of Tuscany slows my heart rate, making me feel peaceful, content, and grateful that life can be so perfect.

Entering the gate and driving down the cypress-lined driveway, I knew we were in for a memorable week. The long elegant infinity pool is stunning and in this age of overpopulation, it’s amazing that the countryside so close to Florence has somehow remained utterly idyllic and pastoral. Your orchard with its vineyard, olive trees, and fruit trees, is divine. The figs were literally bursting open on the tree as if they couldn’t wait to be plucked and relished, and the cacti tree in front of the villa was filled with the fruit of the gods (which I had never tasted before, soooooo delicious).

I wanted to let you know I had the most wonderful week in your spectacular Villa il Sogno, thank you and Peter so much! I’m sure that all of your guests rave about Rossella and I would like to add my voice to those who sing her praises. She is beautiful inside and out. She took loving care of me and my family throughout the week and the dinner she cooked for us one evening was an extra-special treat which we enjoyed with excellent bottles of Brunello…we stuffed ourselves till we couldn’t eat another bite.

The interior of Villa il Sogno is as gorgeous as its grounds and surroundings. You have exquisite taste! Rossella had fresh cut roses and gourmet chocolates waiting in my bedroom, and hydrangeas gracing the living room. The special touches throughout the house are wonderful (for example, the illuminated marble countertop in the master bath and the oh-so-beautiful wood floors in the master bedroom). The graceful furnishings and gracious décor delight the eye and soothe the spirit. When people dream of visiting Tuscany, your villa is exactly the sort of glorious property they dream of, except Villa Il Sogno is better than a dream, it’s a dreamy reality that surpassed all of my expectations and hopes.

One unique activity you might like to recommend to your guests is to take a Segway tour of Florence at night. My family and friends all did it together and we had the BEST time. None of us had ever ridden a Segway before, but it only took a few minutes to get the hang of it and then it was so FUN. We got extra-lucky because there was a full moon and clear skies the night we went. My mom is 72 and her balance is a little off due to nerve damage in her legs and feet caused by her fight with cancer last year, but within 10 minutes she was riding like a champ and having a blast.

I’d also like to say what a pleasure it was to be picked up at the airport by Mauro. He was extremely friendly and helpful, and it was so nice to not have to rent a car and try to find the villa on my own after flying all night. It was great to simply be taken care of and driven directly to the villa.

Thank you so much again for all of your help and hospitality. Please tell Rossella that I miss her and I hope she had a WONDERFUL 40th wedding anniversary!!!!!!!!!!!!

The villa was everything and more than expected — a true Tuscan experience and designer’s dream. We loved every minute.

Thank you belatedly for treating us to the jazz concert at Villa La Pietra! We felt honored to be your guests and loved the music and incredible setting.

We’ve been renting villas in Italy for over a decade and finally in Il Sogno we found the best.

Il Sogno is truly a dream house. Even though its just 20 minutes from Florence, we felt we were deep in the countryside. The house is up on a hill with amazing alternating views of undulating hills and flat farmland, especially from the divine infinity pool. I loved going for runs and walks on the road up to the house, four miles of winding narrow country road made shady with tall trees with ample opportunity to pick wild blackberries.

The most striking difference between this house and those we had rented before was the quality of the furniture and kitchen. Previously, we had often felt like we had moved into someone’s inherited 1970s house, complete with old appliances, dishes, utensils, and furniture. At Villa il Sogno, the house is very recently rebuilt and refurbished with amenities Americans are used to. The bathrooms are numerous (one per bedroom) all new and shiny, with proper water pressure; the house has air conditioning in all the bedrooms, screens on all the windows, internet and flat-screen TVs, and the kitchen appliances are new and in very good condition. If by chance we had a problem, Rosella, the trusty house manager, was always handy to take care of it.

The best for us was renting such a beautiful country villa so close to one of the most beautiful cities in the world. As city people, we thoroughly enjoyed spending the day exploring Florence and then having a barbecue dinner in the pretty gazebo, next to the peach tree orchard. Nestled among old pine, peach, olive and fig trees, the villa’s one drawback was the number of bees we encountered. Even this problem apparently has a simple solution when you present it to the lovely owners with the typically American “can-do” attitude: a specific kind of outdoor extermination at the right time of the year. All in all, our experience was wonderful and I would highly recommend this villa.

GRAZIE GRAZIE GRAZIE! We all felt very privileged to be able (for a too short a while) to embrace such a special place.

It would be useless to describe to you the charm, beauty and special place that is Villa Sogno. Rosella was charming, helpful and her dinner was one of the best we had (in our group this is high praise)! I suspect that you should expect we will soon again impose upon your hospitality and facility to rejuvenate our need for a Firenze-Tuscany fix.

You should be warned that we suspect that for a very short while, Tuscany might suffer a momentary red wine shortage — however, we are confident that it will be only temporary.

Although I have not had time to poll the Tuscano Travotores, I feel confident in concluding that it was an experience all will list in their top five or better.

    Again: MILLE GRAZIE!
